I wouldn't pay a monthly fee for any game.
I would perhaps click on a paypal tab from time to time but having another monthly bill when i have children to feed is a big no no.

eah I'm a HUGE Final Fantasy fan... but again... paying to play... um no..

Oh heard that speach before to... "You play to much." so eventually we talked and decided on what times in the day were for us to do as we wanted to... I can play games when I get home from work till about 9pm. Sometimes at 9pm of course I could still be wrapping up a mission or something but usually I'm good at getting done by 9pm and we both turn off our computers and spend some quality time together. Weekends are another story, usually will hop on for a few ONCE I've cleared it with her there is nothing to do, that way she can't "What your on the computer again?!"

I would expect significantly better support if the game had a monthly fee. From my perspective, you're paying a monthly fee for the dynamic content, the constant tweaking and daily changes that come from paying someone a salary to watch the game as such. Guild Wars falls far short in that department.

Peace,

GW's support and update is just as good as games with monthly fees, if not better.

How often you see the development team checks and responses to forum postings in other games?

No.....
What is Anet floating idea ballons out to get reactions or what...I've seen this topic just recently?

I think some MMORPGs are worth the monthly fee (I'm playing one at present). Gw is not worth the monthly fee. Period.

I'd have to say that I'd stop playing GW if they ever started charging a monthly fee.

but this whole thread is pointless because if they started charging they would basically be shooting themselves in the head. They advertised this game as "no monthly fee", and a lot of people joined up purely because of that - I know I did. Sure I played in the E3 for everyone and WPE and really liked the game then, but if they had been planning on charging I might not have even bothered with those 2 events.

Thing is they'd loose a lot of people if they started charging - and it wouldn't all be the idiots in the game. Many idiots have CC and can afford online games I'm no idiot but I can't afford a monthly fee, so for me.. if they started charging then I'd stop playing purely because I can't pay the monthly fee's. And while $10-$15 per month might not be much to some people, to me it's quite a lot actually.

And anyways, if they started charging.. it would be completely against their whole business model anyways... and a sign that GW was about to die and it's time to get out before it collapses

The way the game is in it's current form? No way. Then I'd rather not play any MMO game at all or go play WoW with my rl friends.

The way I expected the game to be originally with a bit of added support etc? definately.

A monthly fee would necessitate ANet completely redoing the PvE side of the game to bring it in line (content-wise ect) with what people would expect from a game that has a charge.

It would have to be rebuilt from the ground up, it's not gonna happen and I doubt i would pay for it even if they did. Bloody good engine, though.

Back during beta, I would have said yes. But because of recent design flaws (I'd say changes, but I'm going to give A.Net the benefit of the doubt and say they did it on accident), I hardly play now. So no.

Only Arena Net people I see here are the "Community magerment" people and honestly all companies end up with those at some point, visible or not.

I been in several companies forums, I seen developers post and I can honestly say that most of the time companies downright ignore forum posts.

No company can do what the fans sugest, the only company that so far have made a large amount of fan sugestion implementation have been Maxis in relation to Sims content but still aways at their own time and as far the engine allowed.

Personaly I rather that a company sticks to their project and ignore fan sugestions, a lot of those are simply silly or impossible to implement and other would require a complete redesign of the game goals.

No - GW is a good game, but I have not seen any MMORPG, or any game for that matter, that justified me paying any more than the RRP on the box..

And while I'm sure that WoW is a great RPG, and while my brother is a big fan of Xbox live Halo 2, I wouldn't want to play anything that makes me pay more than once, and repeatedly.

Times change. The last time I saw a thread like this was beta. At which time, I would have paid a monthly fee. After release, I would sell my copy if I didn't know I would get so little cash it wouldn't be worth it.
